We heard a lot about the spike in violent crime in Durham last year. Indeed, it became a central issue in the city’s fall elections. But Raleigh had a much more significant increase in both its homicide count and its murder rate, according to data the Raleigh Police Department released this month. Now that we have comparable 2019 stats for the Triangle’s two largest municipalities, let’s see what stories they tell us.
