Dec. 13, 2008, Erwin, N.C.: Mike Swygert and his wife, Sgt. Patricia Swygert, say goodbye as Patricia prepares to go back to Ft. Bragg to complete her training before heading to Iraq. The Swygerts were married Nov. 28, 2008. A deployment ceremony was held at Cape Fear Christian Academy for B Company 230th Brigade Support Battalion. The unit is part of the North Carolina National Guard’s 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, which will deploy 4,000 soldiers to Iraq in April. The 30th Brigade was last deployed to Iraq from 2003-2005.
