The Carolina Mudcats are suddenly on a three-game winning streak.

Mike Costanzo hit a three-run homer in the first inning and the Mudcats held on, beating the Huntsville Stars 6-3 in an early Monday game at Five County Stadium to take the five-game series.

Matt Fairel (1-2) picked up his first Double-A victory while Josh Butler (0-3) took the loss.

Devin Mesoraco added a two-run homer for Carolina, while Eric Eymann chipped in an RBI single.

Caleb Gindl homered for Huntsville.

The Mudcats will have Tuesday off before opening a five-game home series against the Mississippi Braves on Wednesday.
