CARMICHAEL ARENA/CHAPEL HILL UNC hosts Clemson as a part of FSN’s Friday Night ACC Women’s Hoops doubleheader.

The Tigers come into Chapel Hill as underdogs to the No. 14 Tar Heels, but put up more of a fight than many would have expected.

At the half, Carolina has the lead 37-30. It stretches to 50-40 before Clemson goes on a 12-1 stretch, making it 52-51 and taking its second lead.

But it doesn’t last long as Italee Lucas and the Heels win 79-61.

Three of UNC’s starters are in double digits along Lucas, who comes off the bench to score 20 points in 31 minutes of action. Cetera DeGraffenreid scores 12 points and Laura Broomfield 11, while Chay Shegog shoots perfectly for 10 points in 24 minutes.

Lele Hardy leads Clemson with 17 points while Lindsey Mason adds 11 and April Parker.

…Clemson goes 9-11 for the year, 0-4 in ACC play. The Tigers also continue on a six-game losing streak after starting the season 9-4.

…Carolina goes 15-3 for the year, 3-1 in ACC play. UNC bumps up its win streak to two games, after losing to Connecticut and Virginia Tech on the road.
