If you think biting into a fresh strawberry is one of those simple pleasures difficult to topand clearly you do, you sharp INDY reader, youthen this is your month. May is National Strawberry Month. Celebrate at the Carrboro Farmers Market on Saturday, May 17, when the market holds its annual STRAWBERRY JAMBOREE.
Sera Cuni of Foster’s Market in Chapel Hill will be on hand dispensing strawberry wisdom along with samples of strawberry dishes and recipes. There will also be information on where to pick your own, face painting and music for the kids by Tim Wells.
On Wednesday, May 20, you can help others by helping yourself to a good meal at one of the restaurants participating in the CHOW FOR CHOICE fundraising campaign for Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina.
Participating restaurants will donate 10 percent of their proceeds that day to the organization, which provides annual exams, birth control, STD screening and other services to thousands of North Carolinians. Restaurants involved include ACME, Antonia’s, Bull City Burger and Brewery, The Federal, Foster’s Market, Guglhupf, Lantern, Milltown, Motorco, Panciuto, Pompieri Pizza, Six Plates, Toast and Watts Grocery.
