When Moogfest director Marisa Brickman said the festival was here to stay, she meant it.

With four hours officially remaining during its debut weekend in downtown Durham, Moogfest announced the dates for its return to the city in 2017. Moogfest will run from Thursday morning, May 18, until 6 p.m. of Sunday, May 21. Tickets are now on sale for this year’s attendees at a $100 discount. General festival passes are $199, while VIP passes are $449 before the early-bird discount. Those tickets are $50 less than those for this year’s event.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, Moogfest acknowledged the logistical difficulties of relaunching an old, ambitious festival in a new, growing town (as we mentioned here) and vowed to have such issues sorted out before Moogfest opens next year.

“We learned a lot at Moogfest this year. And we want to assure you that the next festival will be even better. VIPs will have even greater access and perks,” the statement read. “We are addressing the workshop signup process to better accommodate the overwhelming enthusiasm for these sessions. … Over the next year, Moogfest will continue to expand this exploration of Future Sound and Future Thought.”

We’ll continue to post coverage of this weekend’s event, including more reviews and photographs, over the next several days.
