The arts-and-culture hub A.V. Club has graced us once again with their annual compendium of gross, silly and ridiculous band names. And among such highlights as the Evil Dead-crazed grindcore outfit Brucexcampbell, two-tone ‘80s cover band Skapeche Mode, indie rock duo Fuck Your Birthday and gore-grind outfit Urinary Tract Infection From Severe Pus Clots, a handful of local acts have earned the dubious honor of inclusion.
Naked Naps, who released a sharp split with Museum Mouth in August, showed up alongside Nova Scotia’s Nap Eyes under the category “Zzzzz,” while garage-rockers and “Raleigh’s very worst people” Shitty Boots found themselves in the category “Shit,” alongside bands like Shit Fucking Shit, Shitfun and Total Fucking Shit.
Winston-Salem’s Must Be The Holy Ghost landed under “Various religious references,” while Carrboro’s Dad & Dad showed up in “Family Ties.” Finally, in the catch-all “Misc.” category, Boone’s Drippy Inputs and the punk-rock supergroup Teenage Time Killers (which features members of Corrosion of Conformity and King Hitter) earned their spots, too.
