The North Carolina Libertarian party has maintained automatic ballot access, with gubernatorial candidate Michael Munger earning 2.87 percent of the vote. In N.C., the threshold to stay on the ballot is 2 percent.
Libertarian candidates for lieutenant governor, insurance commissioner and U.S. Senate also broke the 2 percent barrier.
Since the Libs reached the magic 2 percent mark, it won’t have to collect petition signatures to be on the ballot in 2010, as the party did this year.
