Local lit-celeb Haven Kimmel is at it again. Publishing that is. Author of the bestselling memoir, A Girl Named Zippy and the follow-up novel The Solace of Leaving Early, Kimmel returns with a narrative that bridges the gap between fact and fiction in her latest novel, Something Rising. Rising centers around the coming-of-age of 10-year-old Cassie Claiborne, whose absent father is consumed with the game of pool. This 8-ball-love is soon transferred to Cassie, who, in her adult life, uses the game to combat her demons and right past wrongs. Catch Kimmel and hear more about Cassie at the Regulator bookshop, where the author will be reading and signing Rising. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 7 p.m. 286-2700 for more info.
