As you’ve probably heard by now, echoing a similar demonstration last August in Durham, last night protesters tore down the Confederate memorial on UNC-Chapel Hill’s campus known as Silent Sam, a statue that for more than a century had stood as a symbol as white supremacy.
Local filmmaker Michael Galinksy was there and shot footage of the protest and the statue’s toppling. With his permission, we present Silenced Sam.
