We have some exciting news to share to end the week.
After months of searching, and interviews with more than a dozen exceptional candidates, we’ve hired our first two fellows in partnership with Scalawag, who is making these fellowships possible, and The Assembly. The INDY’s new fellows are Justin Laidlaw and Chase Pellegrini de Paur. They will start with us in early September.
Justin is a writer and multimedia producer born and raised in Durham. He is the founder of Buddy Ruski, a digital media platform exploring how communities are built. When he’s not at his desk, you can usually find Justin on his bicycle, a basketball court, or a dance floor.
And Chase is a recent convert to journalism with degrees from Duke University in China studies and political science. He most recently wrote for The 9th Street Journal, a Duke publication covering politics, culture, and life in the Bull City. Born and raised in the northeast, Chase is excited to spend the next year learning about Durham’s past, present, and future.
We’ll have more updates on our fellowships once they get underway. Meanwhile, we’re very excited to bring Chase and Justin onboard soon.
