Since Jenna Wadsworth was first elected to the board in 2010 at age twenty-one, she’s been a strong advocate for farmland preservation and environmental education. Her deep knowledge of environmental issues gives us confidence she’ll continue to be an effective leader.
We have no issues with incumbent David Adams, but Ian McMillan offers an impressive set of skills as an environmental scientist, boasting certifications as a professional wetland scientist, geographic information systems professional, and public manager. McMillan currently serves as the basin planning branch chief for the N.C. Division of Water Resources, a division of the Department of Environmental Quality. With his wealth of knowledge on water quality issues and state connections, McMillian could serve as a helpful conduit between the district and state regulatory bodies.
There are five candidates vying for two SWCD supervisor positions. Wadsworth and McMillan are the best choices.
